CHICAGO, October 2009 — S.C. International, Ltd., is pleased to announce Julia Lui, a student at New York University - Stern School of Business, as the recipient of its $1000 Actuarial Scholarship; and Amanda Granville, a student at Bryant University, as the recipient of its $500 Actuarial Scholarship.
Julia is working toward a B.S. in Actuarial Science and Finance, with a minor in Advanced Mathematical Methods. With a GPA of 3.77, she has also successfully passed the first two Actuarial exams and is president of the NYU Stern Actuarial Society. In addition, Julia is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi business honors society, Dean’s Honor Key, NYU President’s Honor Roll, and UAA Winter Sport All-Academic Roll. As an intern with The Hartford Insurance Group, Julia assisted in producing a model for predicting loss development of individual healthcare liability claims.
Amanda is working toward a B.S. in Actuarial Mathematics, with a minor in Business. With a GPA of 3.8, she has also successfully passed the first two Actuarial exams. As an intern with MetLife Auto and Home, Amanda worked on rating single and multi-person auto and home policies based on rates and rules of particular states. In addition to her academic pursuits, Amanda is a member of the University Women’s Tennis Team. |

Actuarial Science Scholarships

We offer one $1,000 and one $500 scholarship
for each of the Fall and Spring Semesters, each year.
The application deadline:
Spring Scholarship, December 31 of preceding year.
Fall Scholarship, May 30 of that year.
These one-time $1,000 and $500 scholarships are awarded to students matching the following
criteria:
. Students must be entering their senior year of undergraduate study in Actuarial
Science or Mathematics.
. Have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher in both their major and overall.
. Have passed at least 1 actuarial examination.
. Eligible to work in the United States of America upon graduation.
