$1,000 and $500 Actuarial Science Scholarships

We continue to support the actuarial community with our best efforts which includes assistance in achieving your career goals whether seeking an entry level position or and experienced position.

We offer one $1,000 and one $500 scholarship for each of the Fall and Spring Semesters, each year.

Application deadline

Spring Scholarship, December 31 of preceding year.
Fall Scholarship, May 30 of that year.

These one-time $1,000 and $500 scholarships are awarded to students matching the following criteria:

  • Students must be entering their senior year of undergraduate study in Actuarial Science or Mathematics. 
  • Have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher in both their major and overall. 
  • Have passed at least 1 actuarial examination. 
  • Eligible to work in the United States of America upon graduation.

Congratulations to our Spring 2010 Scholarship Winners

Trent Sahlin & Lauren Dubois

CHICAGO, April 2010 - S.C. International, Ltd., is pleased to announce Trent Sahlin, a student at Purdue University, as the recipient of its $1000 Actuarial Scholarship; and Lauren Dubois, a student at Lebanon Valley College, as the recipient of its $500 Actuarial Scholarship.

Sahlin is working toward a B.S. in both Actuarial Science and Statistics, with a minor in Management. With a GPA of 4.0, he has also successfully passed the first two Actuarial exams. In addition, Sahlin is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society, Dean's List/Honor Roll, Purdue Actuary Club; volunteers with a local baseball club and Habitat for Humanity; and plays intramural sports. As an intern with both Hewitt Associates, Sahlin earned real-world experience on projects such as pricing client health plans.

Dubois is working toward a B.S. in both Actuarial Science and Economics. With a GPA of 3.8, she has successfully passed the first two Actuarial exams. She is a member of the Dean's List, Business & Economics and Phi Alpha Epsilon Honors Societies; has earned economics and leadership awards; served as an economics research assistant and peer tutor; and studied abroad in London. As an intern with Prudential, Dubois earned real-world experience completing defined benefit actuarial valuations.
