This position will play a significant role in the modeling of individual life insurance business and in improving the reliability and transparency of the models that support various financial reporting needs.

The actuarial modeling portion of the role will entail building and maintaining actuarial projection models covering individual life insurance business, quantifying impacts of implementing new models and assumption changes, documenting changes and the controls around model changes, investigating and proposing modeling approach to handle changes in financial bases, sensitivity testing and/or special project requests. In 2010, the Corporate Actuarial department will spend significant effort converting valuation models to AXIS software. From a financial reporting and analysis prospective, the role will entail enhancing existing processes/templates used for financial analysis, assisting in the analysis required to explain financial results and developing tools to further enhance ability to explain financial results (comparative reports, trend reports, source of earnings, etc.). There will also be managerial responsibilities associated with the role including leveraging staff members to accomplish responsibilities above, training staff as needed in AXIS and/or MS Excel/Access and guiding creation of ad hoc analyses templates.
