Description:
Reinsurer in the south will consider a Senior Level Living Benefits Valuation Actuary to work within the Corporate actuarial department.

The incumbent will serve as the Valuation Actuary for long term care and individual disability income lines of business. In addition to reporting on a US statutory basis, the company reports on an IFRS and embedded-value basis. Also, as changes in these bases occur, the incumbent will need to analyze the impact of these changes and implement revised processes. The position will also entail: preparing timely and accurate quarter-end and year-end financial figures on a statutory, US GAAP / IFRS and embedded-value bases, suppling financial projections of the living benefits for inclusion in the annual planning process, providing analysis and insight into the living benefits line of business to the manager and to the CFO and successfully converting and implementing the Axis Financial Modeling System from Polysystems. Additionally, the incumbent will review the company's emerging experience, collaborate with the biometric research area, suggest assumption changes and implement update to the models, quantify impacts of implementing new models and assumption changes and document changes and controls around the model changes, review quarterly actual-to-expected financial results to determine the main causes of deviations,

provide assistance to external reviewers (audit, state examinations, internal audit), assist in reviewing and valuing blocks of business of companies for acquisition.

The successful candidate will have the combination of technical and personal skills. The incumbent will need an a FSA designation, 8-10 years of living benefits experience and at least 3 years of management experience. Additionally, the incumbent must possess outstanding verbal & written skills; have the ability to manage a number of diverse projects; and possess solid organization & planning skills. It’s also considered a “plus” if the incumbent has reinsurance experience and knowledge of embedded-value, Axis or Polysystems & SQL.
