Health Insurer in the Northeast has a need for a Senior Level Health Actuary. The incumbent will be a key member of the management team, with responsibility for overseeing the actuarial support for pricing functions. The role involves responsibility for creating rating methodologies and regulatory filings for all products, as well as the production of accurate and timely pricing trends, rates, and premium revenue forecasts. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for actuarial support of all pricing initiatives and actuarial analysis of product profitability.
This individual will cultivate and manage a staff who will primarily support the Underwriting, Sales, and Strategic Planning areas of the company and will serve as a member of various cross-functional committees and teams addressing competitive issues as they relate to pricing and product strategies for the company.
The qualifications of the role will include: siginificant healthcare experience, with strong experience in the management of healthcare actuarial pricing, strong health and managed care actuarial background with extensive knowledge of health insurance pricing methodologies, including the pricing of HMO, POS, PPO, and Indemnity plans, thorough understanding of current and historic healthcare economics and industry trends, solid management and leadership skills, strong ability to lead a progressive pricing function well-aligned with the organization, strong sense of market, competitive forces and distribution channels, a background of product innovation and pricing of most contemporary healthcare products, outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to explain actuarial items in actuarial and non-actuarial language to executive level audiences, the proven ability to work effectively across various operational areas (sales, clinical, underwriting, etc.), with varied levels of staff, clients, consultants, actuaries, regulators, and senior management, solid experience with both strategic and financial planning activities and the ability to provide insightful, timely business analysis pertinent to the organization's goals, busienss savvy and proven abilities to manage highly complex projects within and across departmental line and a solid understanding and appreciation of the inter-related processes within a managed care organization.
