Niche firm looking to add a Pension Consultant to their staff with a background in Defined Benefit plans. The consultant will be responsible for maintaining client satisfaction by managing projects for various pension plans. This will involve answering questions, attending client meetings, and offering suggestions and solutions to improve plan administration and cost effectiveness. This role will not be involved with the day to day actuarial work, but more of a liasion between the actuary and the client. Will really direct the projects and review the work and then be able to communicate these results and suggestions to the client. Looking for ideally 10+ years of relevant experience with a background in defined benefit plans as well as a client service background. Would be especially interested in someone who has their EA designation (or close to it), has experience with government plans and/or OPEB plans, and/or knows PROVAL, but they are not requirements. An understanding of defined benefit plans and the ability to explain them in every-day terms to a client are the most important skills. Consult with clients on issues related to their retirement plan administration, compliance, plan design, collective bargaining, regulatory or accounting requirements or changes, and employee communications. Meet with clients to review actuarial reports and work with actuarial staff to coordinate and manage client projects.
