Client looking to add a Pension Administrator to their practice. Responsible for administrating a combination of 401(k), profit sharing, money purchase pension, cash balance and 403(b) deferred compensation plans, and maintaining a proactive relationship with clients. Plan Administrator will be the main point of contact for 80-90 clients. Handle all client telephone calls, email questions and correspondence. Communicate with clients on all administrative issues, keeping them informed of recent industry trends. Consult with clients regarding plan provisions, document and operational requirements and issues and make recommendations for plan changes as needed. Explain testing requirements and make recommendations to help plans pass compliance tests. Complete annual and quarterly reviews of plan data to insure plan operations are in compliance with regulations and department standards. Complete all required annual compliance testing accurately, and semi-annual projection if required. Manage compliance issues relating to mergers & acquisitions, controlled groups, and full or partial plan terminations. Review sample submissions of Domestic Relationship Orders to determine if will meet qualification requirements and operational feasibility, and assist clients with completing the QDRO procedures. Understand other plan issues such as minimum required distributions, joint and survivor requirements, compensation definitions, benefits and contribution limits, and social security integration. Prepare audit packages and work with CPAs during annual tax form audits for larger plans. Prepare IRS filings and forms, including but not limited to Form 5500, and 5330. Responsible for meeting IRS and administrative deadlines. Maintain an extensive knowledge of pension laws and regulations. Review participant loans and distributions as needed for processing team.
